The submission deadline for the Felix Schoeller Photo Award 2021 starts in a few days. The 2021 competition is aimed at professional photographers and emerging photographers. The categories are ‘German Peace Prize for Photography’ and ‘Best Work by an Emerging Photographer’. The deadline for submissions is 31.05.2021.

For committed professionals: the German Peace Prize for Photography

The Felix Schoeller Group will continue to underline its commitment to peace in the coming year. “Peace is more important than ever, even in today’s times, which are strongly influenced by the Corona pandemic. We see it as our duty to continue supporting this quest for peace,” says Hans-Christoph Gallenkamp, CEO of the Felix Schoeller Group.

The German Peace Prize for Photography, a cooperation with the city of peace Osnabrück, is open to all professional photographers and comes with prize money of 10,000 euros. Dr. Friederike Texter, who is responsible for communication on the Felix Schoeller Photo Award, explains: “The prize is awarded to works that use the medium of photography to conceptually address the topic of ‘peace’. The concept of peace is defined very broadly. It can be peace between peoples, peaceful coexistence in a country or family, or even inner peace.

Emerging Photographer Award with new partnership and qualified support by the jurors

Since the Felix Schoeller Photo Award was launched in 2013, the competition has focused on promoting young photographers. Texter comments: “Young talent remains close to our hearts. As the German Peace Prize for Photography is not open to young photographers, the category “‘Best Work by an Emerging Photographer’” will also be announced in 2021″. The winner of this category will be honoured with the Felix Schoeller Emerging Photographer Award 2021, which is endowed with prize money of €2,500. All nominees in this category will also receive an exclusive online session with a member of the jury to discuss their work (portfolio presentation).

The Emerging Photographer Award will be supported by CAPTURE X next year. CAPTURE X offers both professionals and amateur photographers the opportunity for intensive exchange with experts and within the community in addition to high-quality fine art papers. On the one hand, the consultation should enable the best printing results. On the other hand, the results of the exchange in terms of content flow into product enhancements, for example. The current CAPTURE X product range consists of cotton papers, matt artist papers and genuine photo papers.

Exhibition planned from October 2021

The works of the winners and nominees in both categories will be presented to the public from 3 October 2021 in the Museumsquartier Osnabrück as part of an exhibition lasting several months. The high-quality papers of the CAPTURE X brand will be used.
