The jury’s decision is now final: they have nominated five submissions in each of the five categories and for the ‘Emerging Photographer’ competition. All nominated submissions can now be viewed online together with descriptions of the concept and information about the photographer.

The formal award ceremony will take place in Osnabrück on 14 October 2017. One day later, all works submitted by the nominees, which naturally automatically include the winners, will be shown in a high quality exhibition in the Museum of Cultural History for a period of four months.

The British Journal of Photography begins online polling for an audience price.

In the run-up to the formal award ceremony, the British Journal of Photography (BJP) will be beginning an online poll among its more than one million readers and followers on digital platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and the BJP website). Readers are requested to vote for their favourites among the submissions nominated for the Felix Schoeller Photo Award. The submission receiving the most votes will receive the Felix Schoeller Photo Award 2017 People’s Choice Award, which will also be presented in the course of the award ceremony on 14 October. The winner of the People’s Choice Award will be presented on BJP online in a comprehensive editorial, including an interview with the photographer and background information about the award-winning submission, and will be advertised on the BJP’s online and social media platforms.
