The Felix Schoeller Photo Award has set its sights on promoting outstanding photography. The 2017 edition of the contest breaks new ground regarding the way the prize winners will be promoted. The extent to which artists benefit from the Award’s media relations work is demonstrated by our collaboration with the British Journal of Photography (BJP), which started this year.

“Our promotion extends beyond the prize-giving ceremony and the high-profile exhibitions of works by the winners and nominees,” explains Dr Friederike Texter, the Felix Schoeller Group’s Senior Vice President of Corporate Communications. She adds: “Our media work is taking on additional significance for our award winners. Exciting stories about our prize winners, and the depiction of their work through all of the BJP’s media channels reach a global audience of millions. The direct reactions on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram are an amazing confirmation of the visibility and acknowledgement that the artists’ work can achieve.”  The result of the publication of the article about our previous Gold Award Winner, Karolin Klüppel, is remarkable: BJP´s article reached over half a million people thanks to cross-media promotion. Around 270,000 people read the article on the BJP website, and the same number again were reached via social media activities. Another article will shortly be appearing, presenting Thomas Friedrich Schäfer’s work “Experiential Spaces” (2015 “Free Choice/Conceptual Photography” Category Winner), and we are looking forward to seeing how over a million BJP readers and fans will react to this work.
